Because of Anita
Brand identity for a podcast exploring the legacy of Professor Anita Hill’s 1991 testimony, in her first-ever public conversation.
In 1991, Anita Hill told the world that Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas had sexually harassed her. A seismic event in American culture, the 1991 hearings brought sexual harassment into the public conversation, and raised issues around race and gender that are as relevant today as 30 years ago. Because of Anita is a four-part podcast that explores the enduring impact of that moment, with new insights and stories from guests like Tarana Burke, Kerry Washington and Professor Hill herself, in her first-ever public conversation with Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who testified 27 years after her.
Because of Anita is a project of The Meteor, a collective dedicated to using journalism, art, culture and creativity to advance gender and racial equity and justice. Inspired by protest posters and the power of Anita’s testimony, the brand identity is clean, bold and arresting, while working within The Meteor’s overarching brand guidelines. Because of Anita went on to receive extensive press coverage, and won numerous podcast awards, including 2022 Webby Awards and the 2022 Gracie Women in Media Awards.
